April 6, 2018 @ 8:00 pm

Preservation New Jersey is pleased to host a night of Americana with the return of Emily Barnes and the 1867 Sanctuary debut of Bryan Gallo and Pete Mancini performing an “In The Round” song swap with accomplished singer-songwriters in the wonderful acoustics of the 1867 Sanctuary.

Emily Barnes
Emily Barnes

Tucked away in a town so tiny it isn’t found on most maps, singer-songwriter Emily Barnes can be found sitting on the stone steps of her 200 year old home stitching together the latest melody from the fabric of her mind. That is on the rare occasion she is home. For the past few years, Emily has been tirelessly trekking down the open road playing venues of all shapes and sizes stopping listeners dead in their tracks with a voice that cuts to the bone and songs that pull on the heart strings.

Now a nationally touring artist, Barnes continues to build a grassroots following from city to small town, one new believer at a time. Her Sophomore album ‘Let in the Light’ was released on March 10th 2017 and has been taking listeners through the nostalgia of finding oneself after the inevitable darkness seeps in. It is honest, it is raw, and as quirky as the show you are likely to experience. With an assortment of “found” instruments, lo-fi birds, pots and pans, this album paints a picture from start to finish.

There is a feeling one gets when witnessing something authentic and rare, and that aura permeates the room at an Emily Barnes show.

“Emily Barnes is more than just a musician; she is a storyteller that sets the lives of her characters to music. Her sophomore release ‘Let in the Light’ should be both required reading and listening for anyone who feels or has felt fractured by life ” — Divide and Conquer

Bryan Gallo
Bryan Gallo

Bryan Gallo (www.bryangallo.com) is a Long Island based singer-songwriter who is inspired by the pressures and consequences of living life romantically. Intrigued by both the sounds of alternative country-rock and wistful pop music, he embarked on a career as a performing singer-songwriter and began to pen songs that would be deeply personal but still readily accessible. Steeped in reflective heartache, the lexicon of Gallo’s lyrics stands as a testament to his raw talent as a musician while weaving a flush and relatable narrative.

He’s been the opening act for notable artists such as Steve Wynn of The Dream Syndicate & The Baseball Project fame and Bobby Bare Jr. Gallo’s headlined The Patchogue Theater’s Live In The Lobby series to much acclaim and has played many other storied venues across Long Island including The Vail Leavitt Theater, the historic Guild Hall, multiple performances as part of the Montauk Music Festival, and performed a much celebrated set at the 2014 Great South Bay Music Festival. Not always confined to the Island that he calls home, Bryan has performed at notable NYC based venues including Pianos, Arleene’s Grocery, and The Mercury Lounge. Whether it be an intimate gig at a tavern or cafe or on a large stage setting under the lights, Bryan’s words and melodies stick with audiences long after the show is over.

Gallo’s highly anticipated debut album, The Party Guest, was released on October 23rd, 2014. Pete Mancini of the Bellerose, NY based Alt-Country band Butchers Blind served as producer for the album with the entirety of Butchers Blind serving as the backing band. The album was recorded and mixed in a remote East Hampton cottage by Mick Hargreaves via his Lantern Sound Recording Rig. Hargreaves looked to capture the band over the course of several extended sessions with many of the tracks being recorded as live takes, and all those involved using the cottage as both recording space and clubhouse. The end result is a record that doesn’t stray from Bryan’s singer/songwriter sensibilities all while stacking on some true Rock and Roll. The Party Guest is a defining statement that encompasses several genres and shows promise for this up and coming Singer/Songwriter.

On November 27th 2015 he released a Holiday themed EP titled Santa Songs which included three original compositions and his take on two Christmas classics. The collection of songs resulted from pre-production in late October 2015 and the final masters delivered just two days before the desired release.

Paradiddle Records Recording Artist Pete Mancini (www.petemancini.com) is the frontman and primary songwriter of Butchers Blind, a critically acclaimed rock band from NYC. His debut solo album Foothill Freewayexplores the Americana influences that are a hallmark of his work with Butchers Blind.

Pete was inspired to release a solo album after hearing the story songs of artists like Guy Clark and Bruce Springsteen. This storytelling influence is on full display throughout the title track, “Foothill Freeway”, which features a sparse arrangement reminiscent of Jason Isbell and Jackson Browne. In addition to the original songs on the album, Pete tackled renditions of songs by Russ Seeger, Wes Houston, and Iain Matthews (Fairport Convention, Plainsong), who is a guest vocalist on “Cartwheel Avenue”.

Pete’s songs have received glowing reviews and radio airplay around the world, and they continue to win over hearts and minds wherever they are heard. In addition to many notable shows he has played with Butchers Blind, Pete has opened for songwriters like Steve Forbert, Kevin Gordon, and Iain Matthews.
