Entertainment On Demand! at 1867 Sanctuary brings inspiring performances to preserved landmark
On Demand! Programs and Events and the 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing have joined in partnership to present Entertainment On Demand! at the 1867 Sanctuary, a series of live performances and programs to inspire and enrich audiences of all ages. The series complements the spectacular lineup of entertainment at the 1867 Sanctuary, a new community arts and cultural center located at 101 Scotch Road in Ewing, NJ.
As part of the Entertainment On Demand! at the 1867 Sanctuary performance series, and in the spirit of the holiday season, Bucks County-based vocalist and entertainer extraordinaire Barbara Weikamp will present Ed Sullivan’s Holiday Celebrity Show at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the 1867 Sanctuary, located at 101 Scotch Road in Ewing, N.J.
In full costume and persona, Barbara Weikamp pays tribute to some of the most famous holiday songs and the celebrities who made them their own, including Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Elvis, Brenda Lee, Sonny and Cher, and more! There are also opportunities for singing along, such as Barbara as “Julie Andrews” singing and leading the crowd in “Silent Night,” and as “Gene Autry” leading a lively sing-along of “Jingle Bells.” Barbara’s husband and performing partner, Nick Dunn, stars as “Ed Sullivan” to host the show and share fascinating stories about these legendary stars who were featured on Sullivan’s popular television program.
Barbara Weikamp recently sold out the house at the Bucks County Cabaret in New Hope. A popular local performer, she is eager to share her holiday show with area audiences. “The show radiates what the holidays are about: coming together, festivities, music, and memories,” Weikamp said.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Barbara Weikamp has performed across the country at the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre, Theatre by the Sea, and Walt Disney World’s Hoop Dee Doo Revue. She spent six years performing on cruise ships venturing through the 7 Seas. Since moving to Pennsylvania with her husband, Nick Dunn, Barbara continues to create, produce and perform various one-woman shows throughout the Delaware Valley area; look for show dates and times on her website www.barbaraweikamp.com..
This show is presented at the 1867 Sanctuary in partnership with On Demand! Programs and Events, which represents Weikamp and other talented performers and speakers. I am thrilled to be partnering with the 1867 Sanctuary to provide outstanding performers like Barbara Weikamp, who always delights her audiences with her creative and entertaining performances, said Natalie Kaye, the founder and president of On Demand! The 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing opened in November 2015 as a beautiful, 200-seat, ADA-accessible arts and cultural venue—easily reached from routes I-95, NJ 29, 31, and US 1 and 206, and from Princeton and Trenton, NJ, and Bucks County, PA. Preservation New Jersey has taken responsibility for the restoration, rehabilitation, and re-use of the historic landmark structure built in 1867 that had been closed in March 2007.
Opening the 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing as a regional haven for arts and culture represents Preservation New Jersey’s mission of historic preservation as a sustainable strategy to engage and enhance communities. We are thrilled to partner with On Demand! Programs and Events to host On Demand’s unique programs, great performers, and wide audiences within this beautiful, nearly 150-year-old, historic landmark, said Helen Kull, Chair, 1867 Sanctuary Committee, Preservation New Jersey.
