The Noshir Mody | Monika Ryan Project

September 25 @ 8:00 pm

Preservation New Jersey and the New Jersey Jazz Society is pleased to welcome the Noshir Mody | Monika Ryan Project, celebrated recording artists join forces to create extraordinary powerful new music.

Multiple award winning singer/songwriter, Monika Ryan has teamed up with highly acclaimed guitar player Noshir Mody, to form a group called The Noshir Mody | Monika Ryan Project. Together these two eclectic and prolific songwriters have created all new music for a 7 piece band with original material spanning poignant themes, layers and groves.

This new work is best described as Jazz Fusion with threads of world music, American popular song, spoken word, and folk music all woven together to create a completely original and exciting tapestry, that has been described as “Completely Captivating” and “Brilliant”

The Noshir Mody | Monika Ryan Project features:
Mike Mullen: Saxophones
Benjamin Hankle: Trumpet and Flugelhorn
Campbell Charshee: piano
Yuka Tadano: Bass
Jarrett Walser: Drums

Monika Ryan’s voice which has been described as a “force of nature” pairs perfectly with Mody’s “ecstatic yet grounded grooves” and “tasteful and unpredictable, rooted and soaring” arrangements.

Though at times the music is tender and delicate, there is nothing timid about this offering. Noshir Mody and Monika Ryan have created “A sonic triumph that goes straight to the heart”

For those who are unfamiliar with Monika’s music, her songs are rooted in jazz with a cabaret-style, mixing in philosophy, facts, whimsy, and most recently, tech. Monika is an old school artist with new school sensibilities, living in the moment!

Monika Ryan is an acclaimed versatile vocalist, recording artist and touring musician, with 10 published albums. Monika sings from her heart, music steeped in Jazz with a unique and sultry style of her own. What the media has said: “Breathtaking” -NPR, “Sensuous and Audacious” -All About Jazz, “Luscious” -Jazz Weekly, “Chic” -Downbeat Magazine, “Beauty, Range and Power”-Jazziz. www.MonikaRyan.com
