La Fiocco: “Fantasticus!” (POSTPONED)
March 28 @ 7:30 pm
After thoughtful consideration, the 1867 Sanctuary Committee is sad to announce that this concert has been postponed in response to serious public health concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic. The new date will be announced as soon as possible.
Preservation New Jersey welcomes La Fiocco in their program, Fantasticus!, the second of their three concert season at the 1867 Sanctuary in their 2019-2020 concert season (lafiocco.org).
This is an encore presentation of chamber music in the “fantastic” style, with Boston’s In Stile Moderno featuring Agnes Coakley Cox, soprano, Nathanial Cox, cornetto & theorbo, Allen Hamrick, recorder & dulcian, Dan McCarthy, baroque violin, Andrew Arceci, viola da gamba, and Lewis R. Baratz, director, recorder & harpsichord.
Artistic director Lewis R. Baratz is currently on the faculty of Lafayette College, where he conducts the Chamber Orchestra and teaches harpsichord and recorder. Baratz remarks: “This year’s season will be focused on the music of the 17th century, a fascinating and complex historical period when the foundations of modern society were emerging. The music is at times extravagant and virtuosic, at other times tuneful, intimate, or pious. We look forward to presenting this exciting repertory to our audience.”
La Fiocco performs instrumental and vocal music of the late Renaissance, Baroque and early Classical eras. A non-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, La Fiocco presents an annual series of three concerts each in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. La Fiocco also performs at other venues in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Boston, MA and Providence, RI.
