Joe Holt, Jazz Piano
November 1 @ 8:00 pm
Joe Holt will perform a solo piano concert of classic jazz, stride piano, the Great American Songbook and more at the 1867 Sanctuary.
Joe has been a full-time musician for over 40 years, performing locally, regionally and nationally. Known for his imaginative improvisations and a joy of performing, Joe’s formal studies span both jazz and classical, and the influence of both worlds can be heard.
Currently, Joe is the host of the “Mainstay Mondays” series at The Mainstay in Rock Hall, MD, performing collaborative concerts with regional guest artists every Monday night. He is a walk on entertainer for American Cruise Lines at ports along the Chesapeake Bay. Joe is a regular sideman with regional jazz groups and accompanist/musical director for several vocalists and singer/songwriters, in addition to his solo concerts and other collaborative performances. He appears on over 30 album recordings, including his new solo release, “Keeping a Hand in This, and That, and The Other Thing. Joe is on the faculty of Washington College in Chestertown, MD, where he directs the jazz combo. He lives on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
“He is the genuine article, an artiste, whose work is a reflection and an extension of who he is. He has found the elusive balance sought by all jazz musicians: the balance between the craft of performing music that is recognizable as being in the traditions of jazz, and the artistry of creating a very personal expression within those same traditions.” – Tri-State Jazz Society
