Joe Holt and the Midiri Trio
September 14 @ 8:00 pm
Preservation New Jersey is pleased to welcome Joe Holt and the Midiri Brothers back to the 1867 Sanctuary for a Sunday matinee of great jazz!
The Midiri Brothers have had a long and celebrated career honing their craft in jazz, big band, swing music, and classical. As regular performers at jazz festivals across the nation, the Midiri Brothers have entertained audiences with their creative style and energy. Joe Midiri is considered a virtuoso of clarinet and saxophone and a noted jazz educator. Paul’s varied talents include vibraphone, drums, and trombone. The flexibility and caliber of performers of the Midiri Brothers group has earned them a reputation for excellence and creative style. In 1974, Joe and Paul Midiri met Joe Holt in the band room of Triton Regional High School, in Runnemede, NJ, and soon thereafter were performing together in the spirit of the Benny Goodman trio.
Joe Holt is an improvisational/jazz pianist, rooted in the classic approaches. Also a Board Certified Music Therapist, Joe performs for the connections that music makes, and a shared experience with his audiences. Known for his imaginative improvisations and a joy of performing, Joe’s formal studies span both jazz and classical, and the influence of both worlds can be heard. Currently, Joe is the host of the “Mainstay Mondays” series at The Mainstay in Rock Hall, MD, performing collaborative concerts with regional guest artists every Monday night, in addition to many other musical adventures. He lives on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
The two Joes and Paul have performed together on and off over the last 40+ years. For this night, they will revisit that original
group, for an evening of free-wheeling jazz.
Jazz at the 1867 Sanctuary and throughout the Trenton/Princeton area is featured on trenton.jazznearyou.com. Download their app for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire!
