Clipper Erickson, Piano, Risë Erickson, Solo Handbells

December 7 @ 8:00 pm

Preservation New Jersey is pleased to welcome Clipper Erickson and Risë Erickson back to the beautiful acoustics of the 1867 Sanctuary with a program of music for virtuoso piano and solo handbells. Risë will perform music for Christmas and other pieces. Clipper will perform a sonata by Swedish composer Wilhelm Stenhammar and other music perhaps including Nathaniel Dett or Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

“Heroic, Sensitive…Power, Precision, Romantic Abandon…” — The Washington Post

In addition to his powerful renditions of the great classical repertoire, Clipper Erickson‘s interpretations of American music from past and present have launched a series of CD releases that have received considerable critical acclaim and have often been featured on radio stations throughout the United States. He continues to be active in premiering and promoting new works by American composers.

Erickson made his debut as a soloist with the Young Musicians Foundation Orchestra at age nineteen in Los Angeles. After studies at The Juilliard School, Yale University, and Indiana University with the renowned British pianist John Ogdon, his interpretations began earning prizes at international competitions including the Busoni, William Kapell, and the American Pianists Association. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals in some of the most famous concert venues in the world, including the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Visit his web site at www.clippererickson.com

Risë Kagan-Erickson has been active in and around Bucks County, Pennsylvania as a singer, solo handbell artist, and director of vocal and handbell choirs since returning from Germany in 2006. She works full time at Ann’s Choice Retirement Community in Warminster, and is the Director of Music at Newtown United Methodist Church. She enjoys following her husband’s concert schedule, turning his pages as needed, in exchange for his services as her permanent accompanist as needed.
