Story-Songs of History
with Gordon Thomas Ward
Sunday, November 6, 2016, 3:00 pm
at the 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing
Preservation New Jersey is pleased to present singer-songwriter and WDVR-FM ("These Days") radio personality Gordon Thomas Ward for an evening of folk music and storytelling in the wonderful acoustics of the 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing!
Everyone loves good stories, and when they’re reinforced with music and song, they get even better! That's why audiences adore this captivating, live performance of stirring tales told through music and spoken word that capture their attention and imagination. The tales Gordon tells complement the acoustic folk songs he sings using haunting melodies, a multi-instrumental accompaniment, and detailed lyrics. Listeners embark upon a captivating journey to find themselves in the company of a Revolutionary War ghost, a railroad engineer, Robert Frost, or transported to the Civil War, the coast of Maine, the historic Trail of Tears, and other places! This presentation has been described by adults as "spellbinding," and, as one high school student remarked, "The people and events seem real, so I can relate to them." It's safe to say that groups will find this program to be a real treat! Stories-Songs of History is an extraordinary event to share with a group of your friends!
Gordon has worked with many notable musicians such as Eric Troyer (Electric Light Orchestra), Carolann Solebello (Red Molly), Nalani and Sarina, William Hall (Frostwater), David Rimelis, and Dave Shapiro, The Boxcar Lilies and the trio Huxtable, Christensen, and Hood.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Gordon in the beautiful setting of the 1867 Sanctuary. In the words of Tom Martin of Rutherfurd Hall, He has one of the best voices I've heard in a long time and the instrumentation to go with it! His ability as a raconteur and minstrel were both provocative and soothing. Bravo! He totally amazed me!
