Chamber Singers and Ragazze

Chamber Singers and Ragazze are pleased to present sacred and secular works across a variety of cultures, styles, and time periods. The selections included showcase the variety of music students study and perform throughout the school year. The concert will feature several soloists, as well as our accompanist, Todd Simmons.

Hopewell Valley School District seal

The curricular vocal music program at Hopewell Valley Central High School consists of Chamber Singers, Ragazze, and Concert Choir. Additional ensembles include: Vox Central Jazz, and three a cappella groups, Con Brio, She Major, and U-Got-Male. The ensembles consistently receive high ratings at festivals and competitions, including: Roxbury Invitiational (Grand Champions), Festival Disney, NJ ACDA Choral Festival, and TCNJ Choral Festival. Hopewell Valley Regional School District is a model district for the arts, and Central High School encourages participation in all the arts. A recent addition to the curriculum includes the Performing Arts Academy. Students who successfully audition for the Academy complete extra courses in the performing arts, including Junior and Senior recitals.

The groups performing on March 16th are Chamber Singers (41 voice mixed) and Ragazze (22 voice treble).

Randy White (Director of Choirs) is a native of Colorado and received his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music degrees from the University of Northern Colorado. His performance career has included roles in Opera, Musical Theater, and Classical/Jazz Voice. Roles performed include: Il Conte (Le Nozze di Figaro), Belcore (L'Elisir D'Amore), Lancelot (Camelot), and Benjamin Stone (Follies). Randy has been a soloist with Opera Classica Europa, Newtown Chamber Orchestra, and the Princeton Musical Amateurs Society. He has also had the opportunity to work in New York City as a Teaching Artist with the Metropolitan Opera Guild. Randy is the Founder and Director of the American Atlantic Chorale. This New Jersey based high school honors choir has toured the countries of Italy, Greece, and Switzerland; performing in the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival and Umbria Jazz Festival. Randy is very grateful for the opportunity to teach at HVCHS with the excellent staff and talented students.

Todd Simmons is an active performer, piano teacher, and choir director who lives and works in and around Princeton, NJ. He holds his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music and a Master's degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also has a Master’s degree in Psychology from Meridian University. Mr. Simmons maintains a private piano studio of 22 students out of his Princeton home and is the accompanist for two choirs in the Princeton Girlchoir organization, the American Boychoir Training Choir, as well as the middle and high school choral programs in the Hopewell Valley School District in Pennington, NJ.

Admission is FREE. Donations will be shared to support the Hopewell Valley Central High School choirs and the restoration of the 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing.
